Current Research Project
Working Title: “(In-)Security and Sovereignty in European Fiscal and Monetary Policy (1970-1999/2002)“
The dissertation project examines the relationship between security and sovereignty in European fiscal and monetary policy in the period from around 1970-1999/2002. It deals with the development, change and differentiation of statehood in the European multi-level system and the resulting conflicts. According to the underlying thesis, experiences of crisis and insecurity in certain historical situations have an effect on notions of sovereignty and on the complex and tense relationship between national and supranational sovereignty. The focus is not least on the securitization of (national) fiscal and currency sovereignty.
