Subproject A06 — Securitization and Discourses on the Rights of Minorities in Central Europe during the in 19th and 20th century
second funding stage (2018-2021)
The subproject focuses on conceptions of national and societal security as well as on the dramatisations of nationality and language issues in jurisdiction and regional administration deduced from these conceptions. The emphasis lies on Hungary in times of neo-absolutism (1849-1859), on the so-called Constitutional Experiments (1860-1867) and on the Austrian-Hungarian Dualism (1867-1918). Therefore will be analysed which security and threat heuristics were relevant to the formation of a body politic and how various actors interpreted the multi-ethnic character of Hungarian society as external and domestic security risk at the same time.
