Subproject C10 (formerly A07) — Between Minority Protection and Securitization: Roma Minority Formation in Modern European History
second funding stage (2018-2021)
This project approaches the historically changing social and political state of the European Roma minority by applying the securitization approach. Starting point is the relationship between securitization and racialization that has been while being widely neglected by Political Theory up to now. In order to deepen and broaden the understanding of more recent processes of securitization we aim not only to analyse the nexus of human rights, citizenship and development programmes, but to illustrate the conditions of “racial” conceptualizations in the modern history of Europe.
